Planning & Cost Control Engineer
About the Role
The Planning & Cost Control Engineer plays a key role in ensuring projects are executed within approved budgets and timelines. The role involves monitoring expenditures, preparing forecasts, developing budgets, and delivering cost-control reports and analysis to support the Operations team.
Responsibilities
- Provide planning and cost-control support across all ongoing projects, including milestone tracking and variation reporting.
- Develop, update, and maintain detailed project budgets and cash flow plans.
- Monitor total project expenditures and verify invoices and claims from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Review cost estimates and recommend improvements to strengthen future budgeting and procurement processes.
- Manage and maintain project accounting and cost-tracking databases.
- Prepare monthly forecasts, progress reports, and cost reports for management review.
- Support accounts receivable in billing processes and monitor billing status to ensure timely collection.
- Maintain strong vendor and service provider relationships to support project execution.
- Ensure full compliance with company HSE and internal control policies.
- Perform additional duties assigned by the Operations Manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in project cost control and planning.
- Experience in the construction or engineering industry preferred.
- Strong proficiency in MS Excel; knowledge of planning software is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (Arabic is an advantage).
- Experience working with international or multicultural teams is preferred.
